i have never played Descent. i was barely a person when it was made, and i have no memories of it. the only reason im writing about it, is i happened across it on facebook.
being the first 6 Degrees of Freedom (6dof) game, i wanted to know about the history of it, its creation and whatnot. i figured there would be oceans of ink invested in the history of it, its not unheard of obviously. plenty of folks have made videos of it, but nothing like the anthology i was hoping to find.
but i did find a post on it beyond a simple review, and it poked at an idea that’s going to sit with me a while. the idea of taste, or a vision, vs the abity to create that vision. i can’t even put a finger on why that feels so profound to me right now, but i feel the need to earmark that idea. you can be picking up an instrument, or photography, or any number of creative ventures, and have the “vision” to know what you need to create. but your application of skill has a gap for a long while.
may you create at the level you envision!

if pewdiepie talked about it it’s mainstream now. 2025 is the year the Linux desktop, Richard Stallman will grace the unwashed masses with their mandatory GPL 3.0 licenses, im tearing up thinking of it already.
really though, there are some banger pieces of advice this man provides i’d like to echo from my own personal experience:
